The Integral Coach Factory in Perambur, Chennai, has unveiled the prototype for the much-anticipated sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express, designed for luxurious overnight travel. This innovative train will cover distances ranging from 800 to 1,200 kilometers, combining comfort with modern design. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has indicated that ticket prices will be on par with the Rajdhani Express, ensuring a premium experience for passengers. The Vande Bharat Sleeper will feature a variety of air-conditioned options, including First AC, 2-tier, and 3-tier coaches, catering to diverse traveler preferences. Scheduled for rollout in 2024, this sleeper train promises to enhance the railway experience in India, making long-distance journeys more comfortable and enjoyable. With its advanced amenities and sleek design, the Vande Bharat Sleeper is poised to set new standards in Indian rail travel.

PM Modi flags off six new Vande Bharat trains at Jharkhand's Tatanagar

On 15th September, Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated six new Vande Bharat Express trains for Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh from Ranchi. The trains will operate on the Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah routes. The initial plan was for the PM to flag off the trains from Tatanagar; however, poor visibility and adverse weather conditions prevented his chopper from taking off. Despite this, the launch proceeded virtually. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar were present at Tatanagar station for the event. The Prime Minister's Office stated that these new Vande Bharat trains will enhance connectivity and provide significant benefits to regular commuters, professionals, business people, and students across the regions.

Vande Bharat Trains: 3 new trains launched by PM Modi

On 31st August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three new Vande Bharat trains. These trains will improve connectivity across various cities of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said, "Today, from the north to the south, another chapter is being added to the country's journey of development. The expansion of Vande Bharat trains reflects our nation's progress towards the goal of a developed India with modernity and speed. These trains have provided connectivity to important religious places in the country. The Temple City of Madurai is now directly connected to the IT City of Bengaluru via Vande Bharat. This train will also prove beneficial for pilgrims," reported ANI.

With target of 4,500 Vande Bharat trains by 2047 underway, PM Modi is all set to flag-off Amrit Bharat Train. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on December 25 visited New Delhi Railway station to inspect the newly built train. The Amrit Bharat Express train looks magnificent in the colour of orange and grey. Vaishnaw boarded the train and took stock of the advance technologies in the passenger vehicle. This comes when the government is already on a mission to run 4,500 Vande Bharat trains by 2047. Notably, both, Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains are part of PM Modi’s 'Make in India' Initiative.
