Tunnel collapses in Telangana, 8 Workers trapped, Rescue ops underway

A tragic accident occurred on February 22 when a section of the under-construction tunnel of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) in Nagarkurnool district, Telangana, collapsed. The incident took place just four days after construction work resumed following a long break. A three-meter stretch of the tunnel caved in, trapping at least eight laborers inside. While some workers were able to escape, the remaining trapped individuals are feared to be still stuck in the rubble. Authorities swiftly responded to the emergency, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and specialized rescue teams mobilized to carry out the operation. The Task Force of the Indian Army has also been called in to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts. To aid in the search, drones were deployed, helping teams navigate the narrow and complex tunnel. The rescue teams are working around the clock to locate and evacuate the trapped workers safely. PM Modi has also reached out to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, expressing concern and offering support in the rescue operations. This tragic incident has raised serious concerns about safety at the SLBC project site. Officials have called for a thorough investigation into the causes behind the collapse, as questions regarding safety measures and construction protocols at the site remain unanswered. The efforts to rescue the trapped workers are ongoing, and authorities are doing everything they can to expedite the operation and bring those stuck inside the tunnel to safety.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Amit Shah Criticises Congress Manifesto

As the second phase of polling for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Home Minister Amit Shah made a scathing attack on the Congress party over its manifesto and questioned Rahul Gandhi, will the country run on Sharia Law? "...First of all, I would like to appeal to the voters to elect a party that stands on its words - for secure and prosperous country and welfare of the poor...After the Congress manifesto was released, people's inclination towards the BJP further increased because, in its manifesto, Congress has repeated its old habit of appeasement. Congress manifesto speaks of taking forward Personal Law. I would like to ask Rahul Gandhi; will this country now work as per Sharia?... Our Constitution is secular, laws of the land can't be formed on the basis of religion. BJP has clearly said in its manifesto that it will bring the Uniform Civil Code (UCC)...We scrapped Triple Talaq and started UCC & we will take this forward. Rahul Gandhi speaks of Personal Law, which is about dividing the country...Personal Laws can't be implemented in this country".
