On Tuesday, the Thane's Regional Disaster Management Unit rescued a monitor lizard found in a small drain, said the official.


At around 12:21 pm the Regional Disaster Management Unit received a call about a monitor lizard found in a small drain near Padwal Nagar, Wagle Estate, Thane.


"A ghorpad was found in a small drain at Shafiq Compound behind Padwalnagar School. The staff of disaster management cell along with a pickup vehicle, veterinary officer and staff, staff of forest department reached the spot," the civic official informed.


"The monitor lizard was rescued safely with the help of the rescue team and was handed over to the Forest Department staff."
