From Rupali Ganguly to Sharad Malhotra: TV stars who advocate for animal welfare

Animals are love; they are cute, they are adorable, but most importantly, they are living beings. Many actors are fond of animals and take care of them. The heat outside is deadly, and in this heat, taking care of animals is important. People need to understand that animals are not enemies. From Rupali Ganguly and Munmun Dutta to Pariva Pranati, here’s looking at television actors who advocate animal welfare. Munmun Dutta Anyone who follows Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame Munmun Dutta is well aware of the fact that the actress loves animals, especially dogs. Munmun has been vocal about protecting animals from any kind of harm. She has rescued many strays and has helped them live better lives. The actress also takes care of the strays around her on the sets of her show. She makes sure that she feeds each one of them and plays with them whenever she gets time. Earlier, she has also shared her dream to open an animal shelter to help strays. Pariva Pranati Pariva is the wife of actor and wildlife photographer Puneet Sachdev, and she herself is a big believer in animal safety. The actress dreamt of opening an animal shelter for dogs and cats. Pariva, in an interview with Midday.com, shared, “I think I was born like that. I've always connected very well with nature. I've cried when a tree is cut down. I'm that kind of person. If an animal gets harmed, I can sit and cry for hours thinking about what that animal must have gone through.” Rupali Ganguly Rupali Ganguly has been actively supporting the cause of animal welfare. She never shies away from taking a stand for the voiceless and raises her voice when they are subjected to cruelty. Earlier, in an interview with Midday.com, Rupali shared, "It is weird that we call them animals and they have more humanity than us. I feel laws in India aren't enough. Things are changing for good now, but we still have a long way to go. As emancipated individuals, we need to advocate compassion and instill a sense of protectiveness for the voiceless in ourselves and our children. I hate to still beg for stricter animal cruelty laws. How can someone harm a life for the sake of YouTube videos and reels? What kind of people are they? We need such laws that criminals should be petrified before harming animals." Sharad Malhotra Sharad Malhotra loves animals, and the actor never shies away from showing love to them. The actor has often talked about cruelty against animals. Tanishaa Mukerji: ‘Dogs are the babies that never grow up’ | Exclusive

Bollywood actress Tanishaa Mukerji is not just a pet mom but a grandmom to six balls of fur! The ‘Neal 'n' Nikki’ star has grown up around canines given how her grandmother was a huge dog lover. “I've given birth to puppies in my bathroom,” she tells exclusively to mid-day.com Tanishaa recalls, “I yelled at my mom when I was two, or three, from the time that I could talk that I wanted a puppy. I got my first dog and I named him Bimbo! And my mom was like, ‘She's not even old enough to know this word’.  Bimbo bit everybody except me, and I loved it. He was a black Russian pomeranian. It was those days, you had to get the dogs imported. You didn't have them bred in India.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Tarun Raj Nihalani (@mr.tarunraj) Tanishaa has named her dogs after iconic movie characters. She has King Leonidas (Leo) from ‘300’ who is married to Princess Leia from ‘Star Wars’. They have two kids named Prince William and Prince Harry. Besides that Tanishaa is a mom to Tara from ‘Supergirl’ and Diana from ‘Wonder Woman’.  The actress asserts that having the dogs around makes a massive difference. She elaborates, “I love people, but I love the company of my dogs.  I'm a very people person, but you know, dogs are unconditional love. They're just so honest. They're so real with you and I'm a very real person. I feel that's what I love about them. They bother you. They don't care how sad you are. They don't care if you're feeling low. If they want something, they will irritate you till you take them for a walk. Between a pet owner and a pet, I think it's the most honest relationship you can have.” Amid the ongoing debate of dogs being mistreated by their owners, Tanishaa concludes, “My grandmother always told me, ‘Till you can learn to take care of the dog, please do not get a dog’. People are going around having dogs to satisfy some Instagram pictures and show off. Until you can take care of that dog and give them your best, please don't get one. It is as good as having a baby. Dogs are the babies that never grow up.”

Exclusive | Pariva Pranati: ‘If an animal gets harmed, I can sit & cry for hrs'

Pariva Pranati, who is currently playing the role of Vandana in 'Wagle ki Duniya', is a mom of one boy and seven furry babies. Pariva is an advocate of animal welfare. In a conversation with midday.com, she shared that for her, taking care of pets, nature, and strays is the most important thing. Pariva Pranati started the conversation by sharing her idea of raising her 7-year-old son. The actress shared that for her, it is very important that her child turns out to be a good human. She said, “It is very important to me that he takes care of animals, nature, and cleanliness in general. My life has become about this—raising another being the right way.” Pariva, who has rescued two Indies and three cats, shared how she takes care of the strays and their pets in this scorching heat. “I make sure there's constantly water available for animals. For the animals on the road, we also try to keep water everywhere so that they can get water,” the actress said.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Pariva Pranati (@parivapranati) While talking about her nature, she said, “I love animals. I love trees, animals, forests, jungles—everything. I love nature.” While sharing about her wish to open an animal shelter, Pariva said, “I think I was born like that. I've always connected very well with nature. I've cried when a tree is cut down. I'm that kind of person. If an animal gets harmed, I can sit and cry for hours thinking about what that animal must have gone through.” On a parting note, she shared her thoughts on how minuscule humans’ contribution is to the planet, saying, “I also believe that the planet does not just belong to humans. We have to share it with animals and other living forms—the trees, the forests. For humans who have problems with nature and animals, I always keep saying that in the ecosystem, it is said that if a honey bee vanishes, the entire ecosystem would collapse. But if humans vanish, the ecosystem would start thriving.”

Adah Sharma

Adah Sharma on her work rescuing abandoned animals

Actress Adah Sharma had a great run at the movies in the past year. Her performance in the much-debated film ‘The Kerala Story’ was lauded. The success of the film also earned her the top spot on the highest-grossing films led by a woman. For Adah, cinema is just one among the many things she enjoys doing. “I love music, I love dancing, I love doing things for animals. And I am doing something with animals. Now I've tied up with an animal hospital and I'm working very closely with them. Now after my three releases, I took a little time off to do something for animals,” she said talking to mid-day.com earlier this year after a month of three releases. Adah was seen in the theatrically released film ‘Bastar’ made by the team of 'The Kerala Story'. She also played a quirky character named Rosie in the second 2 of the web series ‘Sunflower’ starring Sunil Grover. 'The Kerala Story' was also released on OTT in the same month.  Talking in detail about her love for animals and the animal hospital that she has tied up with, Adah shared, “It's called TOLFA, which is Tree of Life for Animals. They work with abandoned animals from cats, dogs, and puppies to cows. There's even a camel over there. There's an abandoned camel who had a skin rash and that's why someone abandoned him.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by The Tree of Life for Animals (@tolfaindia) “There are cows over there and bull calf. The bull calf is always abandoned because he just drinks the mother's milk. And the cow they can use as for milk again. So they don't want the mother's milk getting wasted because they want to give it to humans. So they leave this bull calf after his birth. And when baby calf is really small they can hardly fend for themselves. They leave them on the road and wild dogs attack and kill them. So these guys rescue them also. There's a whole stable of donkeys as well at the hospital. A lot of abandoned animals with a lot of ailments.” Sharing further stories on the plight of animals who land at TOLFA, the actress shared, "There is someone who made their pet pomeranian blind and left him on the road. They poked his eyes out. It's crazy how cruel some people can be. It's crazy if you hear the stories like I can go into detail, but this was one incident. They have dogs with their hind legs broken. This is something I am close to and happy I could be a part of this."           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Adah Sharma (@adah_ki_adah)
