Thakur Public School (Kandivli) emerged champions with an authoritative 3-0 win over Navy Children School (Colaba) in the boys U-14 Div-III final of the MSSA inter-school football tournament at the Goans Sports Association ground recently.

The Kandivli boys, trained by coach Prasad Bhosale, could have won by a bigger margin had they capitalised on all the chances that came their way.  But, despite their flair and fluidity in attack, too much individual play proved to be their undoing.

After a couple of sorties went without success, Thakur Public School finally took the lead when Adi sped past the rival defenders and beat Navy goalkeeper Vaibhav Raj with an angular drive from the right of the box in the eighth minute.

Two minutes later, Aaryan, with a snap effort, doubled the Kandivli school’s lead as they headed into the lemon break.

The Navy lads played better in the second  half and even managed a couple of raids in the Thakur Public School striking circle, but they failed to get a clear shot at goal.

Adi then scored his second goal of the match and the team’s third, in the 30th minute to seal the win.
