Almost a decade after Jiah Khan's death by suicide, a special CBI court in Mumbai acquitted Sooraj Pancholi, who was Jiah's boyfriend and accused of abetting her for suicide. Pancholi's mother, Zarina Wahab, was also seen accompanying him in the Mumbai court. Pancholi was arrested in the case in June 2013 and released on bail in July 2013. Soon after a huge court relief, actor Sooraj Pancholi reacted on Instagram. Jiah's mother Rabia Khan, a key prosecution witness in the case, had told the court that she believed it to be a case of murder and not suicide. Reacting to the verdict, she reiterated that her daughter was killed and said she will approach the high court.

Mumbai, Jun 4 (PTI) Bollywood actress Jiah Khan has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence here, police said. The 25-year old actress reportedly hanged herself at her Juhu residence late last night. According to the police her maid, watchman and neighbours are being interrogated to find out her last visitors. Jiah made her acting debut in the controversial Ram Gopal Varma's 'Nishabd' where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Upon its release in March 2007, the film received mixed reviews, but Jiah was noted for her confidence, attitude, and sex appeal. She also got a Filmfare Best Debutant Nomination. She then appeared alongside Aamir Khan in A R Murugadoss's 'Ghajini', the Hindi remake of the director's own Tamil film of the same name. Later she appeared as a supporting actress in Sajid Khan's multi starrer comedy film 'Housefull' (2010). This was her last film

A couple of days after her death, her sister found a six-page letter from her bedside table, which was handed over to the cops on Saturday and is being examined by them. Her family said that there were many indications in Jiahu00e2u20acu2122s letter about her difficult relationship, but it hasnu00e2u20acu2122t been established whether the letter was addressed to her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi.
