The last Chandra Grahan or Lunar Eclipse of this year will be observed on November 8, 2022. Chandra Grahan always falls on Purnima Tithi and this time it is going to be observed in the month of Kartik. Chandra Grahan occurs when the sun and moon are on the exact opposite side of the earth. This time people will witness a total Chandra Grahan on Kartik Purnima.


Chandra Grahan 2022: Where will it be visible?


This Chandra Grahan will be visible in India, other Asian countries, Australia, North America, parts of northern and eastern Europe and most of South America. 


In India, the total Lunar Eclipse will be visible only in the eastern parts, and the partial Eclipse will be visible from most parts of India. Kohima, Agartala, Guwahati, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Siliguri, Patna and Ranchi will witness the total Eclipse. Other cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Nagpur, Srinagar, Noida, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai, Surat, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Madurai, Udaipur, and more cities in the West, South and North parts of India will witness the partial Eclipse.

Besides India and neighbouring Pakistan, Afghanistan and parts of Russia, residents of other parts of Asia, North and South America, Australia, North Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean will be able to see the celestial event, said astrophysicist Debi Prasad Duari.

Timings:

On November 8, the partial eclipse of the moon will begin at around 2:39 pm and will reach its totality phase around 3:46 pm. The eclipse in terms of the darkness of the moon will be maximum, at 4:29 pm when the moon will be deep inside the shadow of the earth. The total eclipse will end at around 5:11 pm and ultimately the partial eclipse will end around 18:19 hours, astrophysicist Debi Prasad Duari told PTI.
