New Delhi: In a bizarre incident, a couple today stripped outside the main gate of Rashtrapati Bhavan after security personnel denied them entry to the President's Estate.

According to the police, the incident took place here this afternoon when the couple identified as Prabhat and Anuradha reached the main gate and insisted on meeting President Pranab Mukherjee.

"However, they were denied permission as they could not give any satisfactory reason for this. Following a brief argument, the couple took off their clothes in full public view," a police official said.

The man took off the dhoti he was made to wear and starting running down Raisina Hill in the buff, with the police in hot pursuit. He was overtaken by a police jeep and forcibly put inside.

"The couple was then taken to Parliament Street police station. Their behaviour was abnormal and they were giving absurd answers to questions posed to them. They were taken to RML hospital for a medical checkup," the official said.

The couple was also produced them before a sub-divisional magistrate following which they were admitted to the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences in East Delhi, he said.

Police is trying to verify their background. Efforts are also on to trace their family so that the couple can be handed over to them.
