The Colaba police have launched a manhunt for a 20-year-old second year BMS student after he went missing from his hostel on August 26. The matter came to light when his 41-year-old father Ashraf P M approached the police when he was unable to contact his son.
“My son Fazil came to Mumbai to pursue a degree in BMM; he lived in a hostel. Since August 26 my son’s phone has been switched off. I came to Mumbai on August 27 and after asking his friends I came to know that Fazil went out of his hostel on August 26 evening and has not returned ever since. On August 28, I approached the police station.”

He said that his son was interested in investing in the stock market, “My son had recently invested and lost R50,000. He had spoken about it to my wife. He had told his mother not to say a word about this to me. He then borrowed money from friends, relatives and acquaintances to invest more money,” the
father added.
According to Ashraf, the family hails from Kerala. Fazil had come to Mumbai to pursue his degree quite recently and is unfamiliar with the city. He is pursuing his degree from HR College. According to Ashraf, R1 lakh has been missing from his bank account since Fazil went missing.
“We are trying to get information about his transactions and the location from where the money was transferred for the last time before he went missing.
His phone has been switched off since August 26. Further investigations are on, said a police officer from Colaba police station.
