A fire broke out on the roof of multiple shops in Thane district of Maharashtra on Wednesday night, the officials said.


The Thane civic officials and the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) swiftly responded to a fire that erupted at shops near Thane station road.  


The information regarding the blaze was received at around 23:55 hrs, the authorities rushed to the spot and began a fire-fighting operation, an official said.


The fire was seen originating from palm leaves on the roof of two shops dealing in watches and garments respectively, the officials added. 

No injuries were reported in the incident, they said. 

The affected shops suffered no damage, ensuring business continuity for both establishments, an official said.

In an another incident in Thane, a fire broke out in Thane district's Bhiwandi on Tuesday night and the fire was extinguished in the wee hours of Wednesday. According to the preliminary information received the incident occurred at a cotton yarn manufacturing unit located in Osia Mata Compound in Raj Mata Complex in Bhiwandi. 

The blaze in the unit began around 9.35 pm last night. After receiving notification, fire brigade units from Bhiwandi, Thane and Kalyan rushed to the spot. 

The officials stated that the Bhiwandi fire brigade unit had deployed two fire engines. At the same time, Thane's team arrived with a jumbo water tanker vehicle and Kalyan's brigade had sent one fire engine to the site. As per the latest update from the officials of the Bhiwandi fire brigade, the fire was completely extinguished by them by approximately 3.35 am on Wednesday. 

It has not been ascertained yet as to what caused the blaze; however, fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported. The extent of damage caused by the fire is not known either, the official sources said.

In another similar incident, a fire broke out on Wednesday morning in the Byculla area of southern Mumbai, The fire was reported in shops in Sakhali Street 3. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) fire department stated that it was a level two fire. 

The blaze, according to the information received, was spread in two shops which were ground+1 and ground+2 structures. The fire brigade officials rescued at least four persons using a staircase of an adjacent G+2 structure.
