Booked by Mumbai's humans
For over two years, the popular Facebook page and website, Humans of Bombay has been chronicling lives in the city. And now, with over 500 thousand people following the page, the team has come out with a book.

The page, that borrows its name from Humans of New York (HNY), is out with a fresh story about a life in Mumbai every day and quite different from HNY in approach. Karishma Mehta (in pic), the founder of the page, tells us that the primary difference is that her initiative provides fuller, longer stories.
“With every story, we aim to offer a slice of Mumbai. It could be Vada Pav in one and the Asiatic Society in another,” she says. The book, available on the website, has a hundred fresh stories that don’t feature on the Facebook page.
Indian wines on the global stage
Next month, Shanghai will host SIAL China, touted as Asia’s largest food and beverage show, set to welcome 2,900 exhibitors and 66,000 professional visitors. The lone Indian to be invited to the global forum is Nikhil Agarwal.

Bookaroo in the Pink City
Jaipur is already on the world map for the literature festival it hosts. Now, we hear that that Bookaroo, the colourful fest that celebrates children’s literature, has also made its way there. After Delhi, Pune, Goa, Ahmedabad and Kuching, the Pink City is the newest addition on the map. The first edition, set to take place on April 30 and May 1, promises to see the hustle-bustle of authors, illustrators, storytellers, readings and workshops. This diarist notes (albeit, with a tinge of sadness) that the festival is yet to reach aamchi Mumbai. When will our kids get to join the fun?
Make up call for Mrs Beckham
This news is bound to thrill fashionistas. Recently, a leading global make-up brand announced a partnership with Victoria Beckham to create a limited-edition make-up collection. It will launch in September 2016 at select retailers, Victoria Beckham stores, the style diva’s official website and the brand’s portal.

Rajdeep Sardesai’s new innings
“Maybe I should try and write a book on cricket one day!” tweeted journalist Rajdeep Sardesai last September. Well, this diarist is in a position to inform you that Sardesai is indeed doing so and the book will be out not too far down the track.

A little birdie tells us that the book will feature players from smaller places — for example — his former Test batsman father Dilip, who was the first Test cricketer to emerge from Goa.
Rajdeep was a decent cricketer himself, having represented Mumbai in junior cricket before playing first-class cricket for Oxford University on the 1987 English county circuit. Watch this space for more.
