After mid-day reported how the transit homes given to the residents of Narayan Nivas did not have the basic essentials on May 16, MHADA officials promptly sprung into action to make necessary amends.

Initially, the transit flats given on the 17th floor of Piramal Tower in Lower Parel to the three residential families — two women in two flats and a family — of Narayan Nivas were devoid of basic amenities like taps, tube lights and fans.

However, after mid-day's report, MHADA officials have visited the flats and made sure that the necessary fittings were installed on May 19. "When we moved in on May 14, we realised that there were no tubelights or bulbs.

We were really upset," said Ranjana Tanna, a resident of Narayan Nivas, who, along with other residents, shifted to transit homes on Tuesday evening.

"We were informed by MHADA officials that the necessary changes have been made and we can move in," said a 50-year-old resident, who has shifted to the transit home with his family.

The flats and corridors on the 17th floor now have tubelights and electric bulbs and the missing taps have also got their required fittings. "We were satisfied by MHADA's prompt action. They had also cleaned the flats," said Prakash, Ranjana's son.
