The NCPA is hosting a tribute to female Jazz vocalists from the 50s at the third edition of NCPA Legends
Go down nostalgia lane at NCPA Legends, an event that will bring to life the works of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae and Betty Carter among others.

The songs will be performed by vocalist Samantha Edwards, backed a Jazz rhythmic section to re-create music from the past.u00a0While the 1930s was a major period for big Jazz bands, the 1940s were an era when smaller groups evolved with an emphasis on individual instrumentalists.
The 1950s were a period when Jazz vocalists created a special place for the art form. It featured talented ladies with their own individual styles, who brought to life the great music of master composers such as Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Monk, Mingus, etc.
The previous editions of NCPA Legends paid tribute to Elvis Presley and Whitney Houston in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
