Ahead of Women’s Day, Bhumi roped in by UN to promote gender equality at workplace
Bhumi Pednekar
Through her films, Bhumi Pednekar has brought to screen brave women who fight societal norms to find their voice. It isn’t surprising then that ahead of International Women’s Day, she has been roped in by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for their campaign, Women at Work — Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Future Tomorrow. Designed by the UNDP with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the 12-month campaign will encourage women to seek opportunities in non-traditional career paths. Pednekar, who will vocalise the various issues that women face in their fight to break the glass ceiling, says, “Our career choices are influenced by people around us; it limits our aspirations. Our workspaces need to be inclusive, and should encourage diverse skill sets. This can be possible when women occupy spaces in leading roles.”
