Nitin Chandrakant Desai, one of Bollywood's most acclaimed art directors, died on August 4, shocking the whole entertainment world. The filmmaker died by suicide just four days before his 58th birthday on August 6. Desai was discovered dead on August 4 at his ND Studio in Karjat, where he allegedly hung himself. According to reports, Desai's first birthday was celebrated at the ND Studio, and a small puja was done in honour of the departed soul.

According to reports, the late art director spent most of his birthdays at his famed Karjat studio. Hence, Desai's first birth anniversary was celebrated at his ND Studio, according to a close acquaintance who spoke exclusively to ETimes. According to the source, they celebrated Desai's first birthday in the following way: "We put up flowers and garlands on his photo and did a small puja."

For those who are unaware, the art director’s untimely demise brought forth details of him going through a major financial crisis. Reports claimed that he was trapped in debt and had to mortgage land and properties to repay the loans he had taken. Now, in a statement to the media, Nitin's daughter Mansi broke her silence on reports and said her father had no intentions to cheat anyone.

Mansi while talking to news agency ANI, said in her statement, "My father had no intention to cheat anyone, and he was going to make all the payments that he promised. Due to the pandemic, there was no work, and the studio was closed. And due to this, he was not able to make his regular payments."

In his illustrious career, Nitin worked with Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali to create gorgeous and lavish sets. He worked in Bollywood films including 'Devdas', ‘Lagaan', ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’, and ‘Panipat’.

In 2002, he launched his own production house called Chandrakant Productions and produced the devotional film ‘Desh Devi’. ND Studios was established in 2005. The lavish property in Karjat had sets of Jodha Akbar, Traffic Signal, Bajirao Mastani, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and even Salman Khan's Bigg Boss.
