It appears as if Kangana Ranaut takes the titles of her movies a little too seriously in real life. Her 2020 sports drama Panga and her upcoming Dhaakad come to mind instantly when one sees that the actor shared the venue, if not the stage, with Karan Johar at a mega event last week. On Tuesday, Kangana sauntered in for Arpita Khan Sharma and Aayush Sharma’s Eid party, despite giving several interviews in the past about having rejected Sultan opposite Salman Khan. Not to forget, she has even spoken at length about having carved her own place in Bollywood without working with Khans, Kapoors and Kumars. While Salman was bound to be present for the Eid party hosted by his sister and brother-in-law and Karan was also invited, Kangana’s attendance did raise some eyebrows. However, we hear that the Dhaakad actor was present at the venue for a brief time only. And she left before Salman or KJo walked in. Well, well.

Never too late to celebrate
Blame it on the pandemic that thwarted most celebrations over the past two years. Akshay Kumar’s debut film, Saugandh may have released in 1991, but the makers of his upcoming historical, Prithviraj, opted to mark the completion of his 30 years as an actor yesterday. Director Chandraprakash Dwivedi and YRF, the production house behind the upcoming period drama, got the lead actor to unveil a new poster to commemorate his three decades in the industry. Interestingly, the Prithviraj poster is made from a collage of posters of all Akshay’s films down the years. Reminiscing his journey, the actor recalled that he gave his first shot for his maiden movie in Ooty. “It was an action scene that I shot with Bob Christo,” he recalled.
Accident and injuries no bar for Tanushree
Tanushree Dutta had an eventful Tuesday while on the way to the Mahakaal temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. “[Had a ] freak accident while on my way to the temple. [The] brakes failed… [and resulted in a] crash. Got away with just a few stitches,” wrote the actor, who shared pictures from the temple and also of her injured leg. Posting a video from the temple, Tanushree added, “[It was the] very first road accident in my whole life and it just made my resolve and faith stronger. A very humbling experience too, knowing that I’m perhaps not as invincible as I believe myself to be.”
Shuti pays homage to The Beatles
Shruti Haasan has always credited The Beatles as one of her strongest musical influences. So when her guitarist friend Karan Parikh invited her for the tribute show of the iconic band, she wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world. The actor-singer made heads turn when she walked in at the NCPA, where the show took place recently. When she was called to perform live at the show, the actor-singer chose the song, Blackbird, which is one of her personal favourites. Not only was the audience surprised to see her croon a classic number, but were also amazed to see her perform in a style very different from her own.
The Koffee continues
Even as it was reported that prep for the new season of his chat show was underway, Karan Johar sent social media into a tizzy. The chat show host and filmmaker announced last morning that Koffee with Karan (KWK) will not be returning for a new season. That was enough for everyone to speculate the reasons for the abrupt end of the show. They, however, didn’t notice that it was an incomplete post. Later in the evening, KJo shared that seventh season of KWK will stream exclusively on Disney+ Hostar. “The biggest movie stars from across India will return to the couch to spill the beans while drinking some koffee. There will be games, there will be rumours put to rest — and there will be conversations that go deep, about love, loss and everything we’ve all been through over the last few years,” he promised.
Courting controversy
Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film, Jayeshbhai Jordaar has run into legal hurdle for showing prenatal gender determination in the trailer. The Divyang Thakkar directorial venture has the actor playing Jayeshbhai Patel, a Gujarati man fighting to save the life of wife Mudra (Shalini Pandey) and his unborn girl child. An advocate has filed a plea in the Delhi High Court stating that the representation of prenatal sex determination is statutorily prohibited. He has also asked for the deletion of the scenes on the grounds of promoting prohibited activities. Expect regular updates till the movie’s release on May 13.
Bracing for action
The 12th season of Khatron Ke Khiladi (KKK), hosted by Rohit Shetty, is expected to be bigger with more daredevilry than before. Excited about making her debut on a reality show, Shivangi Joshi enthuses, “KKK will be a good platform to overcome my fears and test my abilities.” Sriti Jha, who, by her own admission, doesn’t play with danger, is keen to surprise herself, if not anyone else. “In situations that require me to choose fight or flight, I always chose flight. My decision to participate in KKK is contradictory to my personality,” she says.
Harsh’s revelations
After Harshvarrdhan Kapoor was spotted with a mystery woman some weeks ago, speculation was rife that he had found a new love. In a recent interview, he confirmed that he is seeing someone but refrained from revealing anything about his girlfriend. “You know I have a girlfriend now and I want to learn how to cook,” said the Thar actor. He also divulged that his parents don’t pay for his expenses and he manages on his own. “The reality is that my parents have no interest in paying for my s***. Otherwise, I would have 10 times more than what I have. Believe it or not, I buy my own stuff,” Harsh has said. He avered that if his parents paid for his things, he would have had five cars instead of just one. “It doesn’t work like that,” he summed up.
