Ajaz Khan, who rose to fame with the reality show Bigg Boss, has bagged a film, based on Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai. "It was an honor to be a part of such an iconic film especially which depicts a story of a girl who raised her voice for world peace through her education. Malala Yousafzai taught us that education can solve the biggest problems in the world. I am trying to do something in a new space, recreating India and Pakistan on sets and real locations. A lot of research has gone into getting the character and dialect right," said Ajaz Khan.
Khan will be playing a role of an honest, brave Pakistani army officer, Shoaib Shaikh in the film, which has been titled 'Gul Makai'. The actor added that "the relatability and connection to the story came almost instantly owing to my love and passion for the army." Ajaz said, "Roles that have an edge and are perceived as unconventional in nature have always drawn me towards them immensely."
Gul Makai is being produced by Anand Kumar and directed by Amjad Khan. The movie stars Reem Sheikh, an Indian-Muslim actor who has been working in Television shows. Actress Divya Dutta will reportedly be playing Malala's mother, while the other cast members include late actor Om Puri, and Ragini Khanna.
Gul Makai, based on the life of teenager Pakistani activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafza, will demonstrate distinctive shades and reality of the extreme circumstances which Malala experienced while raising her voice for the girl education.
