Starting a business isn't easy. As we all know, only a tiny percentage of those who start a business end up succeeding and even less reach the million dollars in revenue mark. Filip Boksa is a Polish entrepreneur raised in Chicago, Illinois, who started BookingKoala when he was only 24 years old. Today BookingKoala is home to thousands of entrepreneurs looking to start or grow a service-type business.

The path to starting BookingKoala wasn't a walk in the park. When Boksa arrived in the United States of America, he couldn't speak the language. Not knowing it back then, this was his first challenge. Boksa, credits music as the reason he learned the language quickly. He learned how to repeat words when listening and singing along to music every day. Later in school, he learned what those words meant.
Between Polish school in America, regular public schools, and finishing a grade in Poland, Boksa went through nearly ten different schools before he started high school. His parents always wanted the best for him, and whenever they made more money, they moved to better neighbourhoods with better schools. Boksa believes this experience was a very important part of his life. Moving so much made him stronger and gave him the ability to adapt and make better decisions. Going through so many different schools in different neighbourhoods allowed him to understand other people no matter where they were raised and how much money they came from. By the time Filip started high school, he had become very good at picking the right friends. He formed many good relationships during this time and met his best friend, who later became his business partner.
After finishing high school, Boksa started King of Maids with his best friend from high school. By the time Boksa turned 22, the business had cleared over $5,000,000 in revenue. During this time, he was building another critical relationship with the head developer in charge of King of Maids. Boksa spent countless hours working one on one with his developer. Together, they were building the necessary components to make King of Maids what it is today, a fully remote 7 figure company.
Fast forward to when Boksa was around 24 years old, BookingKoala was born. Both the developer and he realized the power behind what they built and decided to redesign the software and allow others to use it. Opening up the software to the public took them nearly two years, and when Boksa turned 26, his SaaS company was live and ready for use. Today, BookingKoala is home to thousands of entrepreneurs from all industries, sizes, and parts worldwide.
What's the lesson that we can take away from Boksa's story? It's safe to say that you will be rewarded as an entrepreneur with hard work and patience. It's not easy to build something big, but those who take shortcuts and expect overnight success make it a lot harder on themselves than those that look at success as a long-term goal. As you can see, it's easy to think that BookingKoala was founded in 2017 but in reality, it took years for the idea to be born. The software itself has been worked on since King of Maids was born in 2013.
