The couple, Athulya Milan Vathiyat and Milan Baiju Vathiyat, pulled off the theft using a clever distraction trick — while the woman pretended to shop and kept the salesman busy, her partner quietly slipped behind the counter and took the cash. Since their release from jail in September 2024, they’ve been on a nationwide theft spree, targeting major retail stores in cities like Delhi, Chennai, Bhopal, and Bengaluru. Police say the duo has pulled off over 50 similar heists, always during early store hours when staff is minimal.
