A 21-year-old man attempted suicide after allegedly stabbing his 20-year-old girlfriend in a hotel room on Monday morning at around 11.30am. He was arrested after he was discharged from the hospital. The accused identified as Ajmal Shah, took the woman to Apsara guesthouse in Parel where he hit her on the head and as she started losing consciousness, he stabbed her in the neck with a blade. After attacking his girlfriend, he then tried to commit suicide by slashing his wrist.

The petrified girl yelled for help which made the hotel manager rush to the room. They were then taken to KEM hospital. While the woman was unconscious, Shah was arrested after getting a discharge. According to Shah's statement, the couple was in a relationship for the past four years and he suspected her of cheating on him.
An officer told Indian Express, "Shah claims that they had been in a relationship for the past four years and after he learnt that she had been cheating on him, he hatched the plan."
Shah has been booked under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced in Bhoiwada court and remanded in judicial custody.
