Atletico Madrid stormed into their second Champions League final in the last three seasons despite a 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in their semifinal second leg away.

Atletico came into the second leg with a 1-0 lead from their home game.
Atletico Madrid entered the final after a 2-2 aggregate against Bayern Munich but went ahead on away goals.

Entering the match trailing by one goal Bayern's Xabi Alonso scored the first goal in the 31st minute. But in the second half, Atletico converted an equalizer in the form of Griezmann. Bayern could only manage one more goal that came in the 74th minute by striker Robert Lewandowski.

Atletico Madrid will now face the winners of the second semifinal match between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
