DRDO successfully tests made-in-India 'Tapas' UAV

In a major milestone, DRDO & Indian Navy successfully demonstrated transfer of ‘command and control’ capabilities of Made-in-India ‘Tapas’ UAV. The capabilities transfer of the UAV was demonstrated from a distant ground station to the onboard INS Subhadra. The warship located 148 km away from the Karwar naval base controlled the UAV operations for 40mins during its 3.30 hrs flight duration. Tapas took off at 07.35hrs from Aeronautical Test Range in Chitradurga which is located 285 km from Karwar Naval base. One Ground Control Station (GCS) and two Ship Data Terminal (SDT) were installed in INS Subhadra for controlling the UAV. During its flight, the UAV was seamlessly flying around an altitude of 20,000 ft above sea level.
