“In the afternoon itself, we received calls from the BJP office, placing a bulk order with us. They have booked hundred of our hoardings across Mumbai. The hoardings would be up on Saturday and Sunday,” said Yogesh Lakhani, owner of Bright Advertisers.
Lakhani added that they have also been asked to design the hoardings well, so his entire team was put to work in order to ensure that the hoardings are placed at specific locations across the city on time. With the election code of conduct still in place, others are hoping to get orders from political parties by early next week.
“We have not yet received orders from any political parties, but this might be because of the election code of conduct. Once this code of conduct is lifted, not only political outfits but many well-wishers will also book hoarding space in order to congratulate the winning party or leaders,” said a spokesperson for Pawan Advertising.
However, advertisers are also worried about illegal hoardings taking over city space. “Many times, well-wishers post hoardings without the right permissions, which becomes a difficult task to tackle for us. Now, with BMC rules and restrictions, hopefully such nuisance can be avoided,” added the spokesperson for Pawan Advertisers.
