Oneil R Khosa is what some would call a cruising evangelist. The managing director and CEO of Blue Ocean Cruises, wants anyone from a student to a high-flying executive to cruise with his cruise liner. Blue Ocean Cruises is a European cruise company formed recently with the express aim of initiating cruising in Indian waters.

"MV OceanLife is a nine-deck vessel with 231 cabins which include 35 suites, 121 outside and 75 inside staterooms," Khosa told Sunday Mid Day in an interview at his office in South Mumbai's Ballard Estate. Refurbished in 2008 for Rs 100 crore, the ship also offers a large swimming pool, three hot tubs, a kid's zone, a spa and wellness centre, caf ufffds, a lounge, gaming zone and a casino.
The food comes from The Taj Mahal Palace & Towers, which serves both, Indian and international cuisine, including Jain meals. The best news, however, is the pricing -- ranging from a modest Rs 3,000 to Rs 9,900 per person, per night, depending on the accommodation you pick. Adds Khosa, "The short duration will make the cruises affordable for the masses. But for those passengers who want to indulge in luxury, we have an exclusive lounge, separate check-in facilities and butler service."
Almost all the cabins are designed to accommodate four passengers (largely the constitution of a small family). The cruise liner is going all out to attract families. "We will offer up to 50 per cent off on the accommodation of the third and fourth passengers. Besides, you can even get married on the ship, have the captain preside over the marriage, and entertain guests in the dining hall that can host 200 people. We've already received a two-night charter booking for a wedding this December," said Khosa. On the agenda are cruises to Porbandar and to Kutch for the Kutch Desert Festival that's schedule for December.
