The crime branch has seized 4,000 bottles of various brands of cough syrup worth more than Rs 5.70 lakh from a building in Bhiwandi city of Thane district in Maharashtra and arrested a person, an official said on Tuesday, reported news agency PTI.

Officials raided the building located in Gauripada area on October 21 on a tip-off and seized the illegal stock of cough syrups from a room below the staircase, as per an official release, reported PTI.
The seized cough syrups meant for sale fall under the category of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, it stated. Further investigation is underway, reported PTI.
In another case, a 35-year-old history-sheeter was arrested from Malwani area of Mumbai for allegedly possessing 125 gm heroin worth Rs 25 lakh and trying to sell drugs, police said on Tuesday, reported PTI.
Samir Sheikh, a resident of Malwani, was nabbed by police during patrolling on Sunday near Hathi Garden, an official said, adding that his search led to the recovery of heroin, reported PTI.
Sheikh's interrogation revealed that as many as 17 cases, including serious charges like murder, have been registered against him, the official said, reported PTI.
"We are questioning Sheikh to identify the recipient of the heroin consignment. More persons could be arrested in the case," he added, reported PTI.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, reported PTI.
Earlier on Sunday, Police seized banned gutka and tobacco products worth Rs 7.39 lakh from an apartment in Airoli area of Navi Mumbai township, an official said, reported PTI.
One person was arrested after the police conducted a raid in the apartment at around 1 am, the official from Rabale police station said, reported PTI.
Following the raid, the police seized the stock of different brands of gutka and tobacco products, he said, adding a case was registered against the accused under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, reported PTI.
The police were trying to find out from where the stock was sourced, reported PTI.
The sale and consumption of gutka, scented and flavoured tobacco has been banned in Maharashtra since 2012, reported PTI.
