Maharashtra: Tribal girl dies during treatment at Nashik civil hospital

A six-year-old tribal girl from Jawhar in Palghar district died during treatment at the Nashik civil hospital on Tuesday, the medical officials at Jawhar said.


She was suffering from pneumonia and extreme convulsions and was referred to Nashik civil hospital in an unconscious state on Monday.


The girl has been identified as Ruchita Eknath Valavi, a resident of Colanypada in Ramnagar, Jawhar.


She was brought to Patangshah Hospital in critical condition, but due to lack of medical facility, she was shifted to Nashik civil hospital.

Vivek Pandit, chairman of a panel appointed by the state government to check the status of tribal schemes, has written to Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray to vaccinate tribal children for viral influenza and pneumonia.
