With the impact of COVID-19 across Maharashtra minimising, the state on Monday recorded six new cases of the infectious virus. The BMC public health department on Monday, while releasing the data, also asserted that all the patients who have tested positive are showing mild symptoms and do not require intensive care.
A gradual decline in COVID-19 cases across Maharashtra along with calming the health situation has also inclined the recovery rate. As per the data released by the authorities, the recovery rate has been pushed up to 96.12%. The highly inclining recovery rate signifies reassurance amid ongoing monitoring, testing, and the virus getting less effective.
Despite a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases since the start of this year, Maharashtra has seen 2483 recoveries so far this year, with 33,556 people being tested then. The recovery rate as per the BMC Public Health Department on Monday stands at 96.12%. Furthermore, the number of active cases currently stands at just 59, all of whom do not require any intensive care and are showing only mild symptoms.
A closer look at the daily figures shows that of the six cases that have been reported positive on July 7, Mumbai accounted for five cases, while Nagpur reported one COVID-19 case.
The island city, however, has faced a significant rise, with 435 cases in May and 551 in June, inking concerns among residents and health authorities.
Also, since January 2025, a total of 41 patients have lost their lives to the deadly virus, out of which 40 people had comorbidities and one person was already suffering from other diseases.
Health officials credit the current reduction to preemptive measures implemented by local organisations and hospital administrations, which managed to curb the spike witnessed in the previous two months.
Maharashtra has reported 41 COVID-related deaths this year. Notably, 40 of these individuals had pre-existing health concerns, and one death was linked to another sickness, according to the Public Health Department.
The civic authorities, along with several hospitals across the state, have been working to ease the COVID-19 situation. However, with COVID-19 testing and treatment facilities remaining fully operational across the state, the BMC Public Health Department urges people not to panic.
