Ahead of Mumbai meet, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav says I-N-D-I-A bloc united to fight communal forces

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader, Tejashwi Yadav, ahead of the third strategy meeting of I-N-D-I-A said that the Opposition has come together to fight communal forces in India. Speaking to news agency ANI in Mumbai, Tejashwi said, “We (Opposition parties) have come toether to fight against communal forces.” He further claimed they united to “fight” those forces who are “endangering Constitution and democracy”.


With 2024 Lok Sabha elections inching close, the 26-party Opposition bloc I-N-D-I-A will be holding its third meeting on Thursday in Mumbai and will pick up from where they left off in their last gathering. Reportedly, they will be laying a broader roadmap against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre.



Tejaswhi Yadav further opined that I-N-D-I-A alliance was public’s demand. While responding to a question on Prime Ministerial candidate of I-N-D-I-A alliance, he said that he assures their candidate will be “more honest than Modi ji” and will be loyal to the public.


He was quizzed on the agenda of the Opposition bloc’s meeting as well and without divulging much details, Tejashwi said, they will discuss the upcoming polls, seat sharing and other things.

Meanwhile, RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha elaborating on the agency for the two-day meeting said that they expect to have a solid foundation and a roadmap. He said after the meet, the Opposition will be able to say that they are “bringing this country back on track”. He added that all parties harbour wishes to see their leader at the top post however everyone will have to wait until the outcome of the united meeting.

Tejashwi takes dig at Centre over LPG price slash

The RJD leader slammed the union government on its decision to lower LPG prices ahead of polls. He termed it a “political stunt”.

On Tuesday, the Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced Rs 200 price cut in domestic cooking gas prices. The price cut, in Delhi, brought down the cost of 14.2 kg cylinder to Rs 903 from the present Rs 1,103. For those getting a subsidy of Rs 200 under Ujjwala scheme, the cylinder will effectively cost them Rs 703.
