A retrospective of the works of photographer Helga Paris
What: Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is exhibiting works of noted German photographer, Helga Paris.

Titled Selected Photographs: Helga Paris, an exhibition by the Institut for Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa), it features rare images from East Germany, especially gentle portraits of its people.

How: Born in 1938, in Goleniow, Poland, Paris has lived in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin since 1966. Her works are excellent chronicles of post-war history of East Germany.

Paris is known for her compassion towards her subjects, a quality that is translated to the photographs produced, they show the subtleness with which she understood their lives. The subjects of her photographs include working women, pub customers and children.
