Ahead of taking on duties as show host, filmmaker says fact of staying away from kids will keep him from turning participant

Karan Johar’s delight at turning host of the reality TV show Bigg Boss is palpable. An avid consumer of the offering, Johar will replace Salman Khan for the OTT leg that precedes its televised airing. But, while like every other consumer, Johar too would probably spend his days analysing the participants’ performance, would he consider becoming one, if the opportunity arose?

“I won’t be able to,” pat comes his reply. “My biggest fear is staying away from my kids, [Roohi and Yash]. I can’t imagine spending weeks without them because I will have FOMO if I were to stay away from them. They are the source of my happiness, and not being around them for long will kill me.”
The revised template of the show will see them enter the house on August 8, as Johar takes to the Weekend Ka War segment for its OTT airing on VOOT. In the wake of the pandemic, contestants are expected to be tested twice before entering the house.
