When mid-day contacted Nasir Khan, the son of actor Johnny Walker, he expressed his grief on Shyama's demise. "It's really disheartening to know about the demise of Shyama aunty, one of are the most beautiful actresses of her time. She had done several films with my father and in a lot of them she was opposite him also. In fact, in the film that was made on his name 'Johnny Walker', she was the heroine with him. Her daughter Shirin and I have known each other since we were kids. My heartfelt condolences to her and the family and may Allah give her the strength through this trying times," Nasir said.

Yesteryear actress of 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha' fame, Ameeta, visited Shyama last week. When mid-day contacted Ameeta, she said, "She (Shyama) was a very jovial and a positive person. She was sick. I am glad she is out of her misery. I am happy for her and I am sure even she must be happy for herself. She was in a lot of pain and one would feel helpless and could do nothing about it. Her mind was very active, though her body had given up.''
