CBFC suggests changes in Dhadak 2

According to a report by The Hindu, Dhadak 2 has been granted a ‘U/A 16+’ certification. A Hindi dialogue stating, “3,000 years of backlog will not be cleared in just 70 years,” has been changed to, “The backlog of age-old discrimination will not be cleared in just 70 years.” A 5-second shot of an actor urinating on Nilesh (Chaturvedi) was censored. Additionally, the use of casteist slurs like “cha***” and “bha***” has been muted and replaced with “junglee.” A 3-minute scene featuring the lead actor’s father being humiliated was also trimmed. Moreover, a scene involving violence against a woman was cut to a black screen.

More about Dhadak 2

Directed by the proficient Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 explores the barriers of class, caste, and status stitched into the fabric of society, underscoring a narrative of love that can never be fulfilled—or can it? The film follows Siddhant’s character as he navigates a love story that challenges societal expectations and constraints.

At an earlier event, Siddhant said, “We have made a really strong and rooted film. Usually, I have been approached for urban roles, but I come from Ballia, a small town in UP, and this is my first time exploring such a genre.”

Dhadak 2 is an official remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (2018). The film was initially planned for a November 2024 release but was delayed. It is produced by Zee Studios, Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures, and also stars Ashutosh Rana, Kharaj Mukherjee, and Aditya Kumar.

Dhadak 2 is a spiritual sequel to the popular film Dhadak, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, which was released in 2018. That film was the Hindi remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat.
