Being the daughter of late actor Amjad Khan, Ahlam Khan Karachiwala could have easily chosen to be a part of Bollywood but she chose to be on the stage.
She’s been a part of umpteen plays but acting alongside husband and actor Zafar Karachiwala is special. The actress, who will be seen in a play along with Zafar this Saturday, speaks to CS about sharing the stage with him:

Hubby and I
Zafar and I have done a play together earlier, but this is the first time that
I’m doing a play with just him and me on the stage. It’s also the first time after marriage that we’re doing a play together. We both are different actors. I’m a little more spontaneous and he's a little more method. He likes to get under the skin of the character and understand everything. I like to go with the flow. I like to figure things out while he likes answers.
Between the lines
This play does not have an easy script. What you see is not what you get. It’s very layered. Very often, you have to decipher what it means. There are times even our director Ramu (Ramanathan) can’t explain what he wants from us as the roles are so complex. On the surface, they are simple and straight people, but there are things that are really layered.
Parallel connection
Films have never really appealed to me. But if something different, and I really mean different, comes along, then I will consider it. Makrand (Deshpande) had done a play called Miss Beautiful and he had made a film on that. That was something fun I had done. So if something really offbeat, strictly parallel and strictly non-commercial comes along that I like, I will do it.u00a0u00a0
