For four years this 11-year-old girl couldn't gather the courage to reveal the fact that she was sexually abused by two of her cousin brothers. However, after she was tested HIV+ at Sassoon General Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment for prolonged illness, the doctors came to know about the harassment.
After the matter came to light, the victim's father filed a molestation complaint against his nephews at the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station.
Police says
Vijaysinh Gaikwad, senior inspector of Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, said, "It seems the victim was sexually abused by her cousins over the past four years, but she kept quiet, because she was threatened by them. They used to visit her house and rape her. "
The victim's father, who is a driver by profession, said, "My daughter has been ill for quite some time now. Initially, we admitted her to a private hospital where the doctors said that she was suffering from some kidney problem. Later, we shifted her to Sassoon General Hospital, where we got to know that she was molested."
When contacted, a doctor from Sassoon General Hospital said, "After the victim was admitted last week, we told her parents that she needed to undergo a couple of tests. When we got to know that she had been raped, we approached the police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act."
