He was a serious man in his personal life, but his work was comic. Anyone who didn't know him, wouldn't believe that he was the creator of wonderful comic and intelligent works like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Nukkad and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

He would always say, "Comedy is serious business". He was creatively very aggressive. When he was working, he forgot the world, time, his medicines and even eating. Many a times on the sets of Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, he'd call me absent mindedly and say, 'Swaroop, why are you not ready as yet?', and I had to correct him and tell him, 'I'm Rakesh Bedi, not Swaroop Sampat'. I wish I had worked more with him.
