'Bhoomi' starring Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari, netted Rs 7.48 crore in its opening weekend. The film marks Dutt's comeback to Bollywood filmdom after the 2014 film 'P.K' in which the veteran actor had a cameo. Aditi Rao Hydari essays his daughter, the titular character, in the revenge drama. Trade experts predict that the film will have a slower growth during the weekdays. Rajkummar Rao starrer 'Newton' on the other hand has collected a total of 6.90 crore so far showing a growth of 35.71 per cent. Analysts predict that the box-office performance of 'Bhoomi' might suffer further with the release of 'Judwaa 2.'

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the following regarding the current box-office run of 'Bhoomi' which read, "#Bhoomi is a FIASCO... Fri 2.25 cr, Sat 2.47 cr, Sun 2.76 cr. Total: âÂu00c2u0082¹ 7.48 cr [1894 screens]. India biz. (sic)"

'Bhoomi' the directorial venture of Omung Kumar famous for the biographical films 'Mary Kom' and 'Sarbjit' happens to be Sanjay Dutt's return to Bollywood after almost three years. The film also stars Sharad Kelkar and Sidhanth Gupta among others.

'Bhoomi' was released worldwide on September 22. Reviews from critics and audiences have been mixed with criticism directed at Sanjay Dutt's performance and the script.
