Former India stumper Chandrakant Pandit, who lost his Mumbai Ranji team coach's job to Sameer Dighe recently, will be the new chief coach of Vidarbha's Ranji Trophy team.
'Why I said yes'
"I had three offers -- from Kenya, Rajasthan and Vidarbha and I preferred Vidarbha. Every team has a different journey and different culture. I thought this is better," Pandit, who replaced Paras Mhambrey, told mid-day on Saturday.
Pandit, who will join his new team in the first week of August, will have a tough task to coach the team which include leg-spinner Karn Sharma (29) and Ganesh Satish (29).
Positive frame of mind
When asked about challenges, Pandit said: "Last year they failed to qualify for the Ranji knockouts by only two points. But the main thing is that their mindset needs to be changed. I would like to continue with the same approach which I had with Mumbai, Rajasthan and Maharashtra earlier."
