Rani Mukerji's upcoming film, Hichki, finds itself mired in controversy. As soon as the trailer was out on Tuesday, it was found to be similar to the Hollywood film, Front Of The Class (2008). Yesterday, Australia-based author Nishant Kaushik, in a series of tweets, claimed that the film is based on a story he had submitted to director Siddharth P Malhotra in 2015.

Kaushik, who has written books like A Romance With Chaos and My Father Is A Hero, alleged that he had worked on the plot after the makers gave him a one-line brief. Last evening, Malhotra issued a statement denying his claims. "The story he [Kaushik] came up with was not what we were looking for. So, we did not proceed with him," says Malhotra. Rani's comeback seems to be living up to its title - it is facing one hiccup after another.
