A 76-year-old man allegedly molested a 10-year-old girl while she was playing with sister and brother inside a society compound in Khar, where she lived with her parents. The accused lives a couple of metres away from her house. On reaching home, when the girl started crying in pain, her parents approached the police, following which a case was registered and the accused arrested.

Speaking to mid-day, the victim's father said, "I had gone to Bandra for some work, when my wife called me and informed about the incident. She said that my daughter was crying in pain and asked me to reach home immediately. She caught the accused with the help of passersby when she spotted the man touching our daughter inappropriately. When I reached home, my daughter narrated the entire incident to me. Thereafter, we filed a police complaint and got the accused arrested."
According to police, the incident happened when the children were playing in the compound. The man went up to the girl and started touching her private parts. On seeing this, her elder sister rushed to her house and informed her mother, who then caught hold of the accused. An officer from Khar police station said, "Based on the complaint filed by the girl's parents, a case was registered under sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act, following which the accused was arrested. Further investigation into the matter is on."
