On Monday, mid-day found that the description of the party on the online encyclopaedia had abusive language added by unidentified persons.
However, the description was removed as soon as this reporter informed the party’s state general secretary, Anil Shidore. “This is the first time that such abusive language has been used against our party on any information website. I immediately informed the police about the derogatory content and it was removed from the page,” said Shidore, adding that he has appealed to his party workers not to get agitated.
On June 2, a 28-year-old software professional was beaten to death for allegedly uploading derogatory pictures of Shivaji and Bal Thackeray on Facebook.
“We are conducting awareness camps for college students, and our internet monitoring cell keeps a track on the content published. However, it is not possible to keep a check on everyone,” said Sanjay Tungar, police inspector at Cyber Cell.
