On the pretext of providing personal training, a 32-year-old karate trainer was found to have sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl repeatedly since 2015. The victim finally confided in her mother and got him arrested.
The accused, Sarvojeet Singh (32), is a resident of Rabodi, where he runs his karate classes. In her statement to the police, the victim's mother said that in 2015, all his students became black belts in karate, except for her daughter. Singh suggested that she needed personal attention. "Singh used to provide her personal training at her residence and also sometimes after class. Following the training, she became a black belt too," said an officer from Rabodi police station.
"Finding her alone, Singh often used to touch her inappropriately. A couple of days back, he asked the girl to share some of her pictures that she had posted on Instagram. He uploaded the pictures on social networking sites," added the officer.
PSI M Ghadge said, "A case has been registered under Sections 354 (1) and 354 (D) of IPC and the POCSO Act. We have arrested the accused and produced him in court."
In an unrelated incident, the Thane Nagar police arrested an auto rickshaw driver, Sikandar Nisar Shaikh (27), on the charge of molesting a 20-year-old girl. A police officer said, "A case of sexual assault and molestation was registered."
