Very few writers have such an assured debut like Baird’s, whose first novel, The End of Men, was published in April this year. The young author grew up between London and Glasgow, and graduated from the University of Cambridge with a First Class degree in Law in 2015. Her book is already being translated into 16 languages, and its film rights have been sold to a major US studio. At the festival, she will be part of the Patri(an)archy session, where she, along with Amy K Blakemore and writer-editor Peter Griffin, will discuss the complex and often vexed societal and personal relationships between men and women.
