A global electronic music festival will debut in Mumbai later this year

Global electronic festival DGTL will debut in Mumbai this December

United under the motto ‘We are all under the bass’, DGTL will host global musicians and the very best from the country

DGTL, a global electronic festival, which debuted in Amsterdam in 2013, is going to cover five countries this year—India, the Netherlands, Brazil, Israel and Chile. Their first entry to the country was in Bengaluru in 2020, but they couldn't tour in other cities due to the pandemic. This time around, they have chosen Mumbai and Delhi.

“The dance music scene in India is growing at an exponential rate and this gives us an opportunity to introduce audiences to newer experiences,” shares Amsterdan- based Ellen Evers, festival director of DGTL. To be the most innovative and inspiring underground driven art and music festival, they are constantly searching for new artistes around the world. In 2023, they have more editions lined up in newer countries.

Famed international and Indian acts from the electronic music space will cover the two days of the festival, and the organisers expect the venues to be packed with energy. The central spotlight will be on multiple-award winning artist and Diynamic label boss Solomun, who will be making his debut in India. He is a four-time DJ Awards winner for Best Producer, Best DJ and Best Melodic House DJ. Other artistes include electronic music duo Maribou State, Iranian-American house and techno legend Dubfire, Amsterdam-based Lee-Ann Roberts, who is known for her hard techno, Dutch act Ki/ Ki, and Serbian music star Tijana T. The lineup also includes the top names from the Indian dance, techno and electronic space—BLOT!, Anyasa who blends Indian sounds with electronica; Sequ3l, who has been around for over a decade and is known for his progressive house and deep techno sounds, and Sindhi Curry, amongst others.

“The progressive and inspirational experience of electronic music and art can do something very special,” says Evers. “It’s a unique and social experience that can make everybody, every community, and the whole world a little bit better. It creates an inspirational, innovative, and immersive environment where people can grow, unite, and feel free. The community has the urge to explore new styles and cultures, and a dream of a free, safe, and inspiring dance floor, where we all can be the best version of ourselves.” That is why DGTL’s motto is ‘We are all under the bass’.
