It might surprise some to know that Usain Bolt, the fastest man on earth, hasn’t always been invincible. Interestingly, Bolt had a friend in school, named Ricardo Geddes, who was faster than him. “One day Bolt’s teacher bet him a chicken dinner if he could beat Geddes. He never lost again,” says Katie Gornall, Presenter, BBC World News. Gornall, who travelled to Jamaica to meet Bolt, fresh from his Rio 2016 Olympics success, has come up with a new documentary titled Born to Run that captures the inspiring journey of the athlete.

In an email interview, Gornall tells us she always wondered what Bolt would be in like in person. However, nothing quite prepared her for the moment when she was in front of him. “I found myself thinking — how on earth does a man who is 6 foot 5 inches tall ever get out of the blocks? But, he was everything I’d hoped: fun, easygoing, engaging and thoughtful,” she says. The purpose of the documentary, adds Gornall, is not just about the championships he’s won, but how he’s won them – changing the sport and the way we watch it.
