A new national record, a string of personal bests, and six final-day medals capped India’s campaign at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships as the country signed off with a total haul of 24 medals here on Saturday.

Javelin thrower Sachin Yadav won India’s first silver of the day with a personal best throw of 85.16 metres.

The final silver medal was delivered by the women’s 4x100m relay team consisting of Abinaya Rajarajan, Sneha SS, Srabani Nanda, and Nithya Gandhe. They finished on the second step of the podium with a 43.86-second effort.

Animesh Kujur, Pooja and Vithya Ramraj also won a bronze each in 200m, 800m and 400m hurdles, respectively. India’s record tally at the Asian Athletics Championships remains 27, which was achieved in 2017.
