St Stanislaus HS (Bandra) exploited the home conditions as they emerged champions of the Oliver Andrade Trophy, the symbol of supremacy in the MSSA boys under-10 inter-school hockey league, played at the St Stanislaus  ground on Friday.

In the three-team championship play-offs, St Stanislaus won both their matches,  against Don Bosco (Matunga) ‘A’ and Don Bosco (Matunga) ‘B’ teams to finish with six points, to seal their triumph. Don Bosco ‘A’, having defeated Don Bosco ‘B’ 1-0, finished runners-up.

In the title-deciding third play-off match, both St Stanislaus and Don Bosco ‘A’ were locked in an interesting tussle. St Stanislaus managed to take the lead when Xander Vaz did well to score from a penalty corner towards the end of the first session. Don Bosco, in a bid to find the equaliser, applied a lot of pressure on the St Stanislaus citadel, but the Bandra boys defended well and hung on to their slender advantage till the final whistle.

Earlier, St Stanislaus defeated Don Bosco ‘B’ 5-0. A total of nine school teams participated in the league with the top teams from each group qualified for the play-offs.

Lakshdham High School (Goregaon), Jankidevi Public School (Andheri), Dominic Savio High School (Andheri), Yashodham High School (Goregaon), Gokuldham High School (Goregaon) and Children Academy (Malad) were the other six teams in the competition.
