The pain she suffered on and off the court at the Rio Olympics is still there. But now more in the mind, as she tries to move ahead to newer goals.
On Friday, Saina Nehwal asked about how the last year and a half have gone by because of injuries, especially the Olympics.
To Saina's credit, she never talked about it earlier despite being unfairly criticised for landing in Rio with an injury. She revealed that she did not know the extent of her injury then.
She said that she may not even have gone had she known how serious the injury was.
"Only I know what I went through. I shouldn't have gone to Rio, I didn't know I had a major injury. The belief of my parents and coach helped me get back (to this stage in Glasgow). I still have tendonitis in the (right) knee," said Saina of the career-threatening injury. Her campaign in Rio ended in the league stage.
