Racecourse staff to be vaccinated

In a letter addressed to the club secretary (a copy of which is with mid-day), the duo confirmed the development. The vaccination drive will include horse trainers, jockeys, riding boys, stable hands and the administrative staff of the RWITC, both at Mumbai and Pune.

All people professionally involved with the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) Ltd will be vaccinated soon thanks to the efforts of the race club’s senior members, Dilip Thacker and Surendra Sanas.


In a letter addressed to the club secretary (a copy of which is with mid-day), the duo confirmed the development. The vaccination drive will include horse trainers, jockeys, riding boys, stable hands and the administrative staff of the RWITC, both at Mumbai and Pune.


Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla, former chairman of the race club and owner of the Serum Institute of India, which manufacturers the Covishield vaccine, has agreed to supply the vaccine free of cost. 


The race club will bear the expenses of organising the drive.
