Nalanda Public School clinch boys U-16 TT title

Nalanda Public School clinch boys U-16 TT title

Nalanda Public School (Mulund) team comprising Pratiyush Bauva, Aarush Shah and Pramit Jain emerged champions, defeating Jamnabai Narsee School (Juhu) 2-0 in the boys under-16 team championship of the MSSA inter-school table tennis tournament at the Hansraj Morarji Public School, Andheri, on Sunday.


Pratiyush Bauva, 14, was the star performer. He won both the opening singles and the doubles with Aarush Shah, 14. In the singles, Pratiyush staved off a spirited challenge from Rishaan Kanani for 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 win to provide  Nalanda a 1-0 lead.

Later, in the doubles, both Pratiyush and Aarush quelled the fight from the Jamnabai Narsee pairing of Rishaan and Vivaan Sheth by snatching a 11-9, 12-10, 11-9 verdict to seal their triumph.

Earlier, in the boys under-12 team final, Podar International School (Powai) fought hard to get the better of a determined Jamnabai Narsee School (Juhu) 2-0. Podar International’s Aarav Vora prevailed over Sparsh Agarwal 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-3. Later, Aarav and Saurya Karkera recorded an 8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 6-11, 11-8 win.  

Utpal Sanghvi Global School (Juhu) defeated Cathedral & John Connon (Fort) 2-0 to win the girls’ under-12 team championship.
