India demolish fancied Netherlands in World Team Bridge

India jump to fifth position with eight rounds left. They are yet to play Norway, USA 2, Israel, Italy and Poland

India demolish fancied Netherlands in World Team Bridge

In a performance that has shaken the leaderboard, Team India thumped fancied the Netherlands in the open category of the 46th World Team Championship in Marrakech, Morocco on Thursday.


India beat the Netherlands 65-25 


The victory margin would have been greater had the Netherlands not earned 21 IMPS in the last few boards. 


With this win,  India have jumped to fifth position with eight rounds left. They are yet to play Norway, USA 2, Israel, Italy and Poland.

Team India are striving for the coveted Bermuda Bowl trophy.

The top eight teams qualify at the end of this grueling eight-day round robin phase. 

India beat Singapore and South Africa on Thursday before their  win over the Netherlands on Thursday.
The six-member squad have been progressing well while three other Indian teams are playing in the seniors, women’s and mixed categories.
